Meta job at $272K, Nothing’s genius new button, and AI UX tips

Unrequested design news

Something between digital and physical product design that really excited me: Nothing Phone 3a/Pro Essential Key. A button that lets you capture a screenshot and instantly dictate an action. Example: A screenshot of a concert article, you long press and say “remember to buy the tickets for this concert tomorrow” and it saves the screenshot, categorizing it and adding a reminder for tomorrow for you. Brilliant. (Add the timeframe of this video at 5:58)

The EU says portless phones are good to go—looks like Apple’s iPhone Air is on the way!

Imagine listening to music without earphones and without bothering anyone. Apparently, it’s possible.

Unrequested UX/UI mini-lessons

What’s really behind the AI? Let’s make it clear.

AI is everywhere, but trusting it isn’t always easy. As UX designers, we play a huge role in making users feel comfortable with AI-powered products. How? By being open and honest (but not overwhelming). Here’s how to keep things simple and clear:

  • Where’s the data from? Share the sources when possible.

  • User contributions: If your system uses data from other users, let people know!

  • Learning from data: Explain how the system improves using user input (without sounding like sci-fi).

  • Mistakes happen: Be upfront about error possibilities.

If personal data like location or demographics is involved:

  • Get clear consent—no sneaky settings!

  • Let users opt-in.

  • Make your tool usable even without personal data.

Transparency builds trust, and trust builds better experiences. It’s a win-win!

Would you do it on your next AI/UX project?

Ciao! Talk to you in a month-ish 🕐

I'm Alessandra Stagno, a Lead Product Designer from Italy, now based in the Netherlands, with over 8 years of experience in Product Design – not the physical kind, though. The UX and UI kind. Yes, because in Italy, people think you make chairs if you say you’re a Product Designer. Never made chairs – unfortunately. But give me a horrible website or software with a questionable user experience, and you’ll find me in a room fixing it, saying: “Oooh! Now it’s clean, and I understand what I’m supposed to do, let’s test it!”
